The Joedance Film Festival, held annually the first weekend of August, in Uptown Charlotte’s Historic Fourth Ward neighborhood in the 10th Street Townhomes Courtyard, honors the late Joe Restaino to raise funds for rare pediatric cancer research and clinical trials at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Joedance is also committed to supporting Charlotte filmmakers, producers, writers and directors by screening their films at the film festival.

Mission Statement

Joedance Film Festival raises funds and awareness of rare pediatric cancers, specifically, sarcomas, blastomas and brain tumors, for research and clinical trials at Levine Children’s Hospital. Joedance, held annually, is committed to screen films of Charlotte, North Carolina film producers, writers and directors.

    Keeping My Promise

Thanks to the help and support of the Joedance community, we have been able to help fund a clinical trial for Osteosarcoma, created the paid Joedance Internship Program, and donated over $120,000 to Levine Children’s Hospital to date, all while supporting local Charlotte filmmakers.

“I made a promise to Joe that I would raise money in Charlotte. I had no idea what that would look like. I think if he was here today, and saw everything that we’ve done, he’d be very proud of it. It’s very special to make a promise, and then seven years later realize that promise in memory of Joe.”

A special thanks to Eric Bridenstine and the Charlotte Checkers for the fantastic work on this video.
